Karner Blue
(Adopted 1992)

The Karner Blue is an endangered eastern subspecies of Melissa Blue that lives only in pine barrens, a disappearing habitat. In the East, the caterpillars of the Karner Blue only eat the young leaves of lupine, while in the West they feed upon a wide variety of legumes.
